KineMaster’s color filters are easy, one-tap adjustments that can transform the appearance of your videos and images to suit your creative goals.
Color filters offer a preset solution to crafting video that looks a certain way. Depending on your original media, different filters will change the way your videos and images look in a variety of ways. How, then, to know what will work best for your particular content?
Keep reading to find out what filters different types of creators love and how best to use them!
● Atmosphere: Warms up mid-tones and creates a vintage photographic feel
● Recommended content: Retrospective vlogs, nostalgic travel videos, retro fashion try-ons
Deep Autumn color filter presets add a gentle, warm toning to your media that can create an overall look of an aging hand-held snapshot or vintage photograph. Use these filter presets to add soft, warmth to your media when you want to turn back the clock.
● Atmosphere: Flattening contrast between hues, softens intense hues
● Recommended content: Talking head videos, videos shot with controlled lighting
Neutral Tone color filter presets reduce color contrast, particularly for vivid hues to create a better color balance that reveals detail in areas that might otherwise be blown out by contrast or saturation. Use Neutral Tone for situations where you want to highlight the beauty of someone’s skin tones, flatten intense light that might come through during sunset, and other situations with strong light. If you’re shooting indoors under fluorescent or cold LED lighting, these filters will warm up the pale cast on your skin.
● Atmosphere: Shift colors towards cool hues, bring down the temperature
● Recommended content: Great for winter landscapes, cinematic projects that highlight modernity
Vintage Blue color filter presets shift warm hues towards their cooler counterparts. This can be helpful when you want the blues in your media to really stand out, like with the subtle blues in the shadows of snow or in the crystal blues of a Caribbean boating excursion. Intensifying cold colors can emphasize a disconnect between an environment and the people who inhabit it. Perfect for dystopian stories where the environment holds power over your characters.
● Atmosphere: Neon sensibility, SF movie-like colors
● Recommended content: Well-lit nighttime shots, cyberpunk themed content
Cyber Noir color filter presets split your colors and move the warmer hues towards magenta and the cooler towards blue. This can transform a mediocre video taken at night into a dazzling science fiction dreamscape. Try it with videos or images that have a lot of neon signs. Time-lapse videos taken at night with apps like Skyflow that allow you to record light trails look amazing with these filters, too!
● Atmosphere: Outdoor activities, travel videos
● Recommended content: Outdoor activities, travel videos
Summer Memories color filter presets increase the temperature of cool colors making your video clips feel warm and enticing. Summer Memories can turn a dull sunset into an epic, one-of-a-kind shot or just make a room feel cozy.
These are just some of the many color filters available to use in KineMaster and Spring. You can get started experimenting with what works with your own videos when you tap a video or image in your project, then tap the Filter tool in the tool menu that pops open on the right side of the Editing screen.
